Rhythms of the World 2015: Thank you!

What an amazing weekend Rhythms of the World 2015 was! The rain proved futile in it’s attempts to wash out our festival fun and we even have the pictures to prove it – visit our Gallery for some wonderful memories. As you are aware, being a charity we rely solely on our community to keep us giving you Hitchin’s best loved weekend of music and entertainment.

From hot air balloons to The Brand New Heavies, The Raghu Dixit Project to riggers, each and every one of you should be as proud of yourselves as we are of you and ask you to remember that if this was your first year or twentieth year, you are all part of the team who made a difference and keep us working with the community to share music, art and happiness.

We offer thanks to our year long team also who work hard 7 days a week to keep ROTW the festival you know and love. We couldn’t do this without you, our partners, our sponsors and our performers.

One of our volunteers, Tim Orton said: “After volunteering last year I was really pumped up for the next festival involving some of the best bands and artists around locally and worldwide. The bill included ‘CC Smugglers’, ‘Roxy Searle’, ‘Alex Bay’, ‘G La Roche’, ‘The Fontanas’, ‘The Brand New Heavies’ plus many others all performing in the very pleasant grounds of the Priory, Hitchin. Of course the music was only part of the large event that hit North Herts on the 20th and 21st of June this year, also the rigging and derigging was a major role for us volunteers. Painting stages, lifting trusses and staging, putting up barriers and stewarding to name a few jobs I worked on gave me new experiences and it was a great team effort. This was fun but also a worthwhile experience for all music enthusiasts learning about the ins and the outs of the show. Seeing the emptiness of the site to the packed crowds later enforced the importance of the whole event and the happiness it created for the people! The stalls and other accessories filled all the gaps in the field and allowed a rest from the music for a moment, from Greenpeace to face painting and an eclectic mix of food from around the globe the attention was certainly not only on the stages but everywhere! Personally being able to meet the artists was great as I am studying music at college and could draw inspiration from them first hand. Look forward to Rhythms of the World 2016 with all its glory!

Please let us take this moment to thank you for everything and we will be seeing you again in 2016!

Keep your eyes peeled for our exclusive video of the ROTW hot air balloon for a reminiscing memory of a wonderful weekend!
